Smirnoff Fire - A Mini Review

According to their web site, Smirnoff Fire is so hot it's cool. Can anyone tell me what that means? I can't figure it out. Neither can I figure out why it's called Fire. It's not spicy. You drink it cold, not hot. It looks like cola. It tastes kind of like cola with a twist of really fruity vodka. For someone like me who doesn't like beer and who finds many coolers too disgustingly sweet, well, this is still pretty sweet, but it tastes good. Here in Canada, it actually has vodka in it - to the tune of 7% alcohol. I'm not sure if the US version will have real vodka, or some sort of malt-liquor base that kinda tastes the same (what's with that anyway?).

It vaguely reminds me of vodka and coke, something I used to drink a lot, and received plenty of strange looks from waitresses when I ordered it. It definitely has a fruiter flavour than that though, so if you're thinking vodka and coke sounds gross, don't worry.

But here's my gripe, and it's not just with Smirnoff Fire, but with Smirnoff's other coolers too. They have twist-off caps, but damned if I can twist that thing off without ripping my hand to shreds. Twist-off beer I can open no problem. Other coolers I can open no problem. But Smirnoff's seem to have that "screwed-on-extra-tight" type of cap that makes you wonder if it really is a twist-off.

Overall? Not bad, a nice change from Smirnoff Ice, and at least it's not a girly shade of pink or green.
